TCNJ Hosts Trenton Computer Festival

Please join us for two stimulating days of education, exploration and professional development at the 37th Trenton Computer Festival (TCF) including exhibits and buying activities

On Friday March 9th is the 2nd IEEE Integrated STEM Conference (ISEC) – the first of its kind national conference focused on STEM education, and the Information Technology Professional Conference (IT-PC) .  ITPC continues on Saturday March 10th in conjunction with the Trenton Computer Festival (TCF).”
The TCF program is now available onlineAdmission is only $10 and includes:

> Jeff Gomez, the President and CEO of Starlight Runner Entertainment, the world’s leading producer of transmedia entertainment properties, is this year’s keynote speaker.

> Aram Friedman past Director of Engineering of the Hayden Planetarium will be demonstrating his software based planetarium including an eye opening presentation on the birth of the Universe (all Saturday).

> 50+ talks, workshops, tutorials, demos, and special events from 10 am to 5 pm.

> Apple’s Dave Marra will also be presenting all day!

> David Soll will unlock the secrets of Windows 8.

> A full day Arduino Workshop (with components & systems for sale nearby).

> Ham licensing and cram course.

> TCNJ Engineering and Computer Science Student Projects.

> Vendor Fair/Digital flea market.

> Banquet ($20) featuring PC pioneer Roger W. Amidon at 6 pm.

Integrated STEM Education Conference, ISEC ’12,:
The program builds on the success of the inaugural conference in 2011, offering a solid slate of paper presentations and keynote speakers who are on the cutting edge of K-20 integrated STEM education research and practice. This year’s theme is “Integrate by Design,” and highlights the role of the arts and the design process in providing the means for students to make the connections among science, technology, engineering, and math – from STEM to STEAMD. Also featured is a K-12 track with presentations designed to enhance the conversation about the form and content of pre-college STEM education.
Keynote speakers are
– (10 am) Suzanne DeffreeEDN Online Manager, UBM Electronics, on “The Engineering Crisis: Five Things We Should and Can All Be Doing to Inspire STEM.”
– (10:30 am) Naomi Eigner PriceEE Life and Innovation Generation Online Brand Manager and DFI Online Content Manager, UBM Electronics, on “The Importance of Mentoring in STEM.”
– (3:30 pm) H. Vincent Poor, Ph.D., Michael Henry Strater University Professor of Electrical Engineering and Dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science, Princeton University, “Bridging the Disciplines in Teaching and Research.”
– (all day) Aram Friedman of Ansible Technologies, Princeton, will be exhibiting his planetarium in conjunction with his discussion of “Computers, Cosmology & STEM.”
Special registration rates for IEEE members and K-12 parents, students, and teachers. K-12 teachers attending ISEC ’12 will receive continuing education credits.

Information Technology Professional Conference, IT-PC ’12, which offers IT and computer professionals an additional day of conference. It is intended, in an economical way, to provide attendees with insight and information pertinent to their jobs, and to keep them informed of emerging technologies that could impact  their work. There are three tacks on Friday between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm on 1) Development, 2) Management & Systems Analysis, and 3) Professional Development and Technology, and in the IT-PC track as part of TC F on Saturday between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm . An especially popular feature is the facilitated networking session conducted at lunch to allow attendees to meet and get to know each other. Door Prizes will be raffled including development kits and books

IT-PC registration in advance is $125, (Students and Senior Citizens is $35), and at the door $150. Included are continental breakfast and lunch (on Friday), and admission to TCF on Saturday. Please visit this website to register.
