Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Awarded Fellowship by Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program

Dr. Ambrose Adegbege, Ph.D., an Associate Professor for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was awarded a fellowship by the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program (CADFP) to collaborate in research with the Departments of Electronic and Electrical Engineering of Obafemi Awolowo University and Elizade University in Nigeria. Dr. Adegbege’s transatlantic collaboration will focus on research in the area of embedded control and the development of innovative pedagogy to help with “developing capacity in participating universities abroad and fostering the exchange of ideas, cultures, and best practices.” Reflecting on the award, Dr. Adegbege highlighted how the award allows his lab at TCNJ, the Laboratory for Embedded Control and Optimization (LECO), to “lead and to contribute not only to emerging techno-innovations and solutions to the grand engineering challenges of the 21st century but also to engage in discussions and collaborations around the world” contributing to “the internationalization of engineering education” and “widening participation of underrepresented groups in STEM-related fields.”

Titled “Teacher-Scholar Model for Embedded Control in Nigeria: The Nexus of Collaborative Research‚ Innovative Pedagogy and Scholarship”, Dr. Adegbege will help with curriculum development, collaborative research, training, and student mentoring over the coming months. This project is one of 527 fellowships awarded since the program began in 2013, and is designed to “facilitate equitable, effective and mutually beneficial international higher education engagements between scholars in Africa and African Diaspora academics in Canada and the United States.”
